About Mercedes
The origin of Mercedes can be found in 1926: Most carmakers were struggling with economic difficulties and were fighting a hard battle for survival. This also applied to the two manufacturers "Benz & Cie. Rheinische Gasmotorenfabrik in Mannheim" and "Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft" (Cannstadt). At this time, both companies are already regarded as experienced pioneers in the automotive industry. The Mercedes brand was named after Mercedes Adrienne Ramona Manuela von Weigl (1889 to 1929). Her father, Emil Jellinek, the car dealer, achieved first place in the Nice- Magagnone-Nice touring race in March 1899 with a 16 hp Daimler racing car. Jellinek had entered the car for the competition under the pseudonym Mercedes. The first models to be launched under the new Mercedes-Benz brand name: the 12/55 hp three-liter car and the 8/38 hp two-liter car.
Logo, the world-famous Mercedes star, is familiar to every child today. The three prongs were intended to represent the three elements of air, water and earth and symbolized the fact that Daimler was then developing engines for all three areas of mobility. After the merger of the two companies, a new logo had to be found. The three-pointed star remained and was henceforth framed by a laurel wreath and the lettering Mercedes-Benz. Today, the logo is more purist and straightforward, as the laurel wreath and lettering have been dropped.
Mercedes is opening a new chapter with its cars in terms of equipment and safety. Here, developments are driven forward and future-proof mobility is experienced first hand. Modern luxury meets a lot of sportiness in the Mercedes-Benz model series. In the interior of the Mercedes models, the high-quality workmanship is immediately noticeable. Since 1926, the Daimler Group has been delighting motorists with state-of-the-art technology in its passenger cars. Patents and innovations are inevitably linked to the history of Daimler. This is how it came about that Mercedes Benz introduced the first driver airbag to the market. Unique selling points of Mercedes are very powerful engines and traditional rear-wheel drive. There are the following main classes: Mercedes - Benz A-Class, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Mercedes - Benz S-Class and special models such as Mercedes-AMG.
