About Suzuki
Although the company was founded by Michio Suzuki as early as 1909, it was not until 1937 that the first automobile left the factory halls in Hamamatsu, Japan. Previously, mainly looms were manufactured here. It was not until the 1950s that Suzuki launched its first car, the "Suzulight", which played an immense part in the motorization of Japan and became one of the internationally successful Japanese carmakers we know today. The small car with a two-cylinder engine ensured that Suzuki was now able to gain a foothold in the automobile market. In 1981, Suzuki signed an extensive business agreement with General Motors with the aim of promoting cooperation between the two manufacturers. Another significant milestone followed in 1988, when Suzuki Vitara was launched. At the time, this model established the SUV segment, which is extremely successful today. The Suzuki model range continues to impress with intelligent all-wheel drives and the manufacturer is regarded as a specialist for 4x4 vehicles. The Japanese automaker traditionally uses the capital letter S as its logo, which has been changed slightly over time. Today, the S is a bright signal red and visually resembles a rearing snake. Below it is the Suzuki lettering in blue.
Suzuki stands for a broadly diversified model range that includes virtually all vehicle types, from subcompact cars to vans. Innovative all-wheel drives have always played a major role in Suzuki's model range. Drivers all over the world are thoroughly impressed by the robust and reliable vehicles and often remain loyal to "their" brand for decades. The company's greatest success, however, is the Suzuki Swift small car, which was introduced in 1983. Along with the Suzuki Celerio, the Baleno small car was also taken off the market in summer 2019. Traditionally, Suzuki is very strong in the SUV and off-road vehicle segment and currently offers four vehicles in this class. The smallest of the bunch is the Suzuki Ignis, which has been built in its current form since 2016 and stands out from the crowd primarily due to its extravagant looks. Suzuki Vitara, which has been available since 2015, is somewhat larger. Even more space is offered by Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, which has been available since 2013. In addition to the three SUVs, Suzuki also has a genuine off-road vehicle in its range in the form of the Jimny. One should also mention Suzuki Swace and SX4 S-Cross.
