Long story, short introduction

In 1895, the bookseller Vaclav Klement founded the company "Laurin & Klement'' (together with the bicycle mechanic Vaclav Laurin) in the Bohemian town of Mlada Boleslav. Under the "Slavia'' brand, the two partners developed high-quality and, at the time, modern bicycles with innovative functions. A few years later, bicycles with auxiliary motors were also offered and, from 1899, motorcycles were produced.

In 1905, Laurin & Klement presented its first developed automobile - the "Voiturette Type A". The automobile division was opened. The era of the Laurin & Klement brand ended when it merged with the engineering concern Skoda from Pilsen on June 27, 1925. The strong automotive division was spun off from the large Skoda concern in 1930 and continued as the "Skoda Automotive Industry Joint Stock Company'' (ASAP Skoda). Skoda's trademark represented a feathered Indian arrow from 1926 to 2011, when Skoda presented the feathered arrow in a fresh natural green against a white background surrounded by a black and silver ring.
