About SEAT
Seat is the acronym for "Sociedad Espanola de Automoviles de Turismo'' and was founded in Barcelona in 1950. The parallels to Fiat are no coincidence, as the company produced models identical in construction to the Italian brand for many years before its integration into the VW Group was completed in 1986, where Seat is primarily intended to attract younger buyers. Currently, Seat is taking an important role in connectivity, for example by integrating Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and even Amazon Alexa early on. In the future, the main focus will be on expanding the electric mobility fleet and the Cupra sub-brand, which has a special focus on sports and lifestyle models.
Over the decades, Seat's logo has changed again and again. For a long time, the emblem was strongly modeled on Fiat's logo, though squares rather than slanted diamonds were used. Since 1982, the company has used the characteristic "S'' with the familiar fluting in the middle as its logo. While the Seat lettering underneath was initially blue, it is now (as of 2018) red.
Seat employs approximately 14,000 people worldwide and recorded annual sales of 8.6 billion euros in 2015. Around 80 percent of all vehicles produced are destined for export: via around 1700 dealerships and to more than 80 countries around the world. Worldwide, 470,000 units were sold in 2017. Seat's product range now includes several natural gas-powered TGI models. Customers can choose between the Seat Ibiza TGI, the Leon TGI and the Leon ST TGI. The innovative, environmentally friendly TGI engines run primarily on compressed natural gas (CNG) and score clear points in terms of fuel consumption.
Seat appeals particularly to young customers through the design of its vehicles and at the same time picks up on current trends by stepping up its service to the SUV class with the Tarraco, the brand's large SUV, Arona mini SUV and Ateca compact SUV. Seat Ibiza has a slightly sportier cut than competitors such as the Renault Clio or Opel Corsa. Seat Leon has always impressed with sportiness in the compact class. SEAT also offers the Seat Alhambra MPV.
