Long history, many successes

Peugeot's founding year is considered to be 1810, when brothers Jean-Frederic and Jean-Pierre Peugeot set up an iron foundry that produced saw blades, watch springs, and later irons and coffee and pepper mills. The company presented the first Peugeot brand motor vehicle in 1889. The Serpollet Peugeot had the appearance of a tricycle and was still powered by steam. Just one year later, Peugeot discarded steam power and produced the first gasoline-powered car under the designation "Type 2" with a Daimler engine. Armand Peugeot entered into strategic industrial partnerships with Serpollet, Daimler and Michelin, thus securing access to important technical innovations of the age. To this day, Peugeot continues to expand its industrial partnerships, whether with Ford, BMW or Chinese manufacturers such as Dongfeng. The 403 model, the first mass- produced Peugeot with a diesel engine, was introduced in 1955. A great success was the 404, introduced in 1960, which was very often used as a cab. In 2007, the Peugeot 207, introduced in 2006, became the best-selling car in Europe. For the company's 200th birthday in 2010, the RCZ luxury coupe and the iOn, a fully electric city car, were launched. After a long history, the graphically simplified logo design now shows the lion in a moving pose, which is meant to symbolize dynamism.

Diverse model range: from commercial vehicle to station wagon to van

An absolute classic in the Peugeot model range is of course the 205, which won numerous rally victories in the 1980s. This model, which was introduced in 1983 and was available to buy until 1998, gave the brand a sporty image and helped the then crisis-stricken carmaker to regain its former glory. Successor models of this small car regularly make it into the top ten of new registrations in the import sector. These include: Peugeot 206, 207 and 208. New additions are successful SUV models with the double zero in the middle, such as the 2008 and the slightly larger 3008, which carry their double zero as a special feature in the model name. For pragmatists, the Sochaux-based Lion has the high-roof Rifter station wagon in its lineup, which is also ideal for people who pursue a hobby that requires a lot of space.
