About Nissan
Behind Toyota and Honda, Nissan is the third largest Japanese automaker. The company has a long and eventful history and in 1999 formed a strategic alliance with French vehicle manufacturer Renault, known as the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Nissan's history dates back to 1911, when the Kaishinsha Motorcar Works company was founded by Masujiro Hashimoto. The first passenger car produced was the Datson 10, but the factory was destroyed by a hurricane in 1931 and after rebuilding, the company was renamed Datsun. The founders referred to the English term "Sun": the name was intended to allude to the land of the rising sun (Japan). The company name Nissan can be traced back to its origins: The corporate holding company Nihon Sangyo, founded in 1928, from which today's company emerged, was already listed on the Japanese stock exchange under the abbreviation "Nissan" at that time. This designation was retained for the sake of simplicity. Nissan's logo is catchy and not very spectacular. It shows a graphic chrome-colored circle that visually resembles a steering wheel, as well as the lettering Nissan in black in the center of the circle.
Similar to most other Asian brands, Nissan's models for the European market focus primarily on vehicles in the lower and mid-price segments. However, the manufacturer also has high-priced sports cars on offer, which sets it apart somewhat from its Asian competitors on the European market. Nissan is also considered a pioneer when it comes to electric mobility. As the best-selling electric vehicle in the world, the Nissan Leaf enjoys an outstanding reputation. The Nissan Micra small car has been sold since 1982 and enjoys great popularity, especially as a small city car. Since 2017, it has been on the roads in its fifth and thus current generation. The Nissan Juke is the smallest Nissan SUV and is popular with fashion-conscious drivers due to its unconventional design, Qashqai represents family cars, in the SUV class there is Nissan X-Trail.
